Vremya requires MacTCP or OpenTransport. You should also have your geographical location set using the Map control panel and the Date & Time control panel with the Daylight Saving Time checkbox checked or unchecked to reflect your current state.

Quick Start
Open the Vremya application. If this is your first time, you will be asked to enter the address of the NTP server you wish to use. You should try to use a server closest to you. After dismissing the Settings dialog box, choose ﾒSet System Clockﾓ from the File menu. Vremya will set the system clock to the correct time.

NTP Server Enter the address of the NTP server you wish to use. Try to use a server near you, preferably on your own network. If you canﾕt find one on your network, you can find a list of servers at: http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.html
Dismiss alerts after 2 minutes If this checkbox is checked, Vremya will dismiss all alerts after 2 minutes if you do not do anything.
Sound If this checkbox is checked, Vremya will play a sound when the clock is set.
Show ﾒsuccessﾓ note If this checkbox is checked, Vremya will tell you that the time has been set successfully when you set the clock manually (using ﾒSet Clockﾓ from the file menu).
On launch These options allow you to automate Vremya by setting Vremyaﾕs actions when it is launched.
Check if TCP is open If a TCP connection is not already open, Vremya does nothing.
Wait for TCP Vremya will wait in the background for a TCP connection to open before proceeding.
Set the clock Vremya will attempt to set the time when itﾕs launched.
Set the clock every N hours will set the clock every N hours. This action is independent of ﾒSet the clockﾓ.
Quit When Vremya is done with the above, it will quit if this checkbox is checked. That is, if you have ﾒSet the clock every N hoursﾓ checked and the clock has been set within N hours, Vremya will quit if it is checked.
Important Note
You can override all launch actions by holding down any key (caps lock doesnﾕt count) when you open Vremya. This is handly when Vremya is set to ﾒQuitﾓ so you can change the settings without having Vremya quit on you before you can do anything.
The Server Info dialog box
This dialog box shows information about the current server. See RFC 1059 for more information about the meanings of the fields or turn on Balloon Help for brief descriptions.
Interchangeable preferences
You can make Vremya use a difference set of settings by opening the file containing the desired settings. To do this: Open Vremya, set it up as you like and quit. The file ﾒVremya preferencesﾓ in the Preferences folder in the System Folder now contains those settings. You can copy this file to another location and when you open this file, Vremya will use those settings regardless of its previous settings.
Scripting Notes
If you do not provide a server with sync, the server specified in the preferences will be used.
Suggestions and Notes
If you are using FreePPP version 2.5 or above, you may wish to use the last option in the main dialog, ﾒOpen application on connectﾉﾓ to set Vremya up so that it doesnﾕt have to wait the background if you want it to wait for TCP.
Daylight Saving Time
Vremya does not adjust your clock for Daylight Saving Time (nor does the System software up to version 7.6). You should turn DST on or off using the Date & Time control panel whenever appropriate for your region. This is the safest way to do it.
